RTIO to play key role in curbing corruption

Wednesday, September 04, 2013 - Peshawar—Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Information and Public Relations Azmat Hanif Orakzai has said that access to information was the due right of every human being and the KP Right to Information Ordinance (RTIO) will play a key role in the provision of relief to the people, developing good governance and curbing corruption. It will make the public bodies transparent, besides making the accountability drive a success and above all making access of the people to the basic information.

Civil society hails promulgation of RTI Ordinance 2013 in KP

Welcoming the promulgation of "Right to Information Ordinance 2013 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa", a civil society organisation has demanded that all relevant stakeholders to be consulted before its formal approval by the provincial legislator assembly, to make it more effective and ensure transparency in the system.

Tweaking underway: Right to Information Ordinance undergoes overhaul

PESHAWAR: The government has amended its draft on the Right to Information (RTI) Ordinance, after the initial blueprint was criticised for certain inadequacies.

K-P Governor Engineer Shaukatullah Khan, who signed the ordinance forwarded by the provincial government on August 13, was quoted by an official source as saying: “I have signed the ordinance because the provincial government said it was very urgent.”

KP govt urged to review draft information law

Coalition on Right to Information (CRI), a network of 20 civil society organisations, on wednesday rejected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governement's draft Right to Information Ordinance, 2013 declaring it weak and faulty, and demanded its review, The representatives of Center for Peace and Development Initiatives, a partner of CRI, told a news conference at Peshawar Press Club that the draft was riddled with weaknesses and faults and would not facilitate the people's access to information.

CSOs see anomalies in proposed ordinance on right to information

A network of 20 civil society organisations (CSOs), Coalition on Right to Information (CRTI), Wednesday claimed the proposed ordinance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Right to Information had a number of anomalies and it would create problems instead of facilitating the public to have access to information.

Right to Information Ordinance: KPK civil society bodies reject draft

PESHAWAR - A group of civil society organisations on Wednesday rejected the proposed draft for an ordinance on Right to Information by the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and demanded proper legislation in the provincial assembly instead of promulgating an ordinance.
