Tweaking underway: Right to Information Ordinance undergoes overhaul

PESHAWAR: The government has amended its draft on the Right to Information (RTI) Ordinance, after the initial blueprint was criticised for certain inadequacies.

K-P Governor Engineer Shaukatullah Khan, who signed the ordinance forwarded by the provincial government on August 13, was quoted by an official source as saying: “I have signed the ordinance because the provincial government said it was very urgent.”

KP govt urged to review draft information law

Coalition on Right to Information (CRI), a network of 20 civil society organisations, on wednesday rejected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governement's draft Right to Information Ordinance, 2013 declaring it weak and faulty, and demanded its review, The representatives of Center for Peace and Development Initiatives, a partner of CRI, told a news conference at Peshawar Press Club that the draft was riddled with weaknesses and faults and would not facilitate the people's access to information.

A network of 20 civil society organisations (CSOs), Coalition on Right to Information (CRTI), Wednesday claimed the proposed ordinance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Right to Information had a number of anomalies and it would create problems instead of facilitating the public to have access to information.
