Project Objectives:

  • Model Right to Information law developed for Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) province
  • Comprehensive Advocacy campaign for RTI in KP designed and implemented

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province of Pakistan does not have right to information law. Article 19-A was inserted in constitution of Pakistan through 18th amendment, which provides for right to access information information held by public bodies as fundamental right of citizens of Pakistan. This project seeks to design and implement a research based advocacy campaign for right to information legislation in KP.

CGPA has developed model RTI law, and a policy brief on RTI legislation in KP. The project seeks to sensitize/aware 225 key stakeholders (lawyers, civil society representatives, and leaders of different political parties) for RTI legislation in KP. One provincial seminar on RTI is also included in key deliverables of the project.
